DHA7003 Walden University Creating an Employee Engagement Survey Paper

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Stephen Covey, in his book The Speed of Trust (2006), states that there are 13 common behaviors that high-trust leaders exhibit. He identified these behaviors from working with and observing trusted leaders around the world. As a healthcare leader, if you can generate and increase trust among your employees, the organization will achieve better results. It is also valuable to consider the opposite of these behaviors, as such behaviors will deplete trust, affecting all outcomes within a healthcare organization.

Your task this week is to prepare a brief to senior leadership justifying an employee engagement survey.

Part 1: In Week 1 you were instructed to review this part of the assignment. You were to contact and interview an HR administrator in a designated “best place to work” healthcare organization by using web resources such as Great Places to Work and Business Insider to determine what strategies the employer uses to attain and maintain the perception among employees that their organization is a top place to work.

Part 2: Drawing upon Covey’s behavioral list and other research investigating building and maintaining trust, as well as your interview, include in your brief to senior leadership the following:

  1. Your justification for the employee engagement survey.
  2. Outline at least three employee engagement best practices that you think need to be included in your organization’s employee engagement strategy.
  3. Be sure to address the connection between high trust and employee satisfaction/engagement and patient satisfaction.
  4. Include at the end of the brief five questions you plan to use in the employee engagement survey for your organization.
