Social norms guide our conversational interactions with others. This can become evident when we consider different contexts.

• Please identify at least two social norms in your organizational context. How did you learn them (was this formal or informal)?
• What types of social norms guide your verbal communication choices at work?
  • How might these be different from the social norms that guide your verbal communication choices in your household or while with friends?
